"STANDARD"(NON-SELECT) vs. "SELECT":

An good example of "Select" versus "Standard" is shown here. This Red Oak Drawer Front Would Not Be Considered Defective If You Ordered it In Standard Oak, Based simply on the Color Variation. If You Do Not Like These Natural Wood Color Variations, You Must Order 'Select' Wood, So This Kind Of Color Variation Will Be Kept To A Minimum.

ALL of our Doors Use GRADE "A" Wood (not "RUSTIC", like the inexpensive Imported Cabinets), However When The Items Are Priced With "Select" Preceding The Name Of The Wood Type, It Means That they were Hand Picked For Best Grain Matching And Least Color Variation they could find. See the photos pelow for more examples.

'Select' Doors Cost Slightly More (Generally about 10%) than the 'Standard' (Non-Select) Version of the Same Doors. It is not required, although it IS Recommended, because Color Variations Are NOT Considered a Defect When Ordered in Non-Select. If You Want The Very Best, Go With "Select". It Is one of the single Best Investments You Can Make.
Many Competitors Do Not Even Offer This "Select" Option.

"Standard" Grade ( on Wood ):

RED OAK: White, gray with red tint accepted on face. Mineral allowed approximately 1/16" wide by 8" long. Rips no less than 1" wide. No knots. Burl and filled pinhole knots acceptable. Mineral may appear in machined area.

MAPLE: Northern Select White Hard Maple, similar to Birch in appearance.

CHERRY: Natural range of colors allowed, including limited Sapwood.

ALDER: Available in "knotty" and "clear" Natural range of colors, limited brown.

"Select" Grade ( on Wood ):

"SELECT" RED OAK: Same as Red Oak except no rips less than 2" wide in center of panel unless perfect in grain and color match. Mineral may appear in machined areas of panel and outside edge of frame.

"SELECT" MAPLE:
Same as Maple except no rips less than 2" wide in center of panel unless perfect in grain and color match. Mineral may appear in machined areas of panel and outside edge of frame.

"SELECT" CHERRY:
Same as Cherry, except Sapwood allowed in machined areas only.

"SELECT" ASH: Natural range of colors, a higher grade of color match.

"Sapwood" will likely be present on a 'Standard' Cherry door. We recommend using 'Select' with Cherry
